Assessment Steps & Scoring
For each phase, please select the description that best fits the patient's condition.
1. Pre-Test Preparation
Measure resting blood pressure and heart rate; attach ECG leads to monitor heart activity.
2. Warm-Up
Patient begins walking on a treadmill or pedaling on a stationary bike at a low speed. Duration achieved (e.g., 1-2 mins).
3. Exercise Phase
Treadmill or bike intensity is gradually increased every 3 minutes. Monitor heart rate, blood pressure, and ECG response at each stage.
4. Observation of Symptoms
Monitor for chest pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, or irregular heartbeats.
5. ECG Changes
Observe ECG for any signs of ischemia, such as ST-segment depression or T-wave changes.
6. Blood Pressure Response
Monitor systolic BP; normal response is an increase in BP during exercise.
7. Exercise Duration
Measure the total time patient maintains exercise; longer durations indicate better tolerance.
8. Recovery Phase
Patient stops exercising; monitor heart rate and BP recovery over 3-5 minutes post-exercise.

About the Stress Test
The Stress Test evaluates cardiovascular health by measuring the heart's response to physical exertion. It helps identify possible blockages or abnormalities in heart rhythm and is instrumental in determining further diagnostic or therapeutic steps.
This test is for individuals who may have symptoms of heart disease, such as chest pain or shortness of breath, or for those with risk factors for heart disease. It can also be used to determine a safe level of exercise.
The test is conducted in a clinical setting. The patient walks on a treadmill or pedals a stationary bike while connected to an ECG machine. The intensity of the exercise is gradually increased, and the patient's heart rate, blood pressure, and ECG are monitored throughout.
Results are categorized as Low, Moderate, or High Risk. Low risk indicates a normal response. Moderate risk suggests minor issues. High risk indicates significant abnormalities that may require further investigation or treatment.
